Day 1 of the West Coast Swing: Game 144 Preview

Jose Contreras 12-7, 4.09 for the ChiSox

vs.

John Lackey 11-9, 3.54 for the Halos

I feel more comfortable playing out West against a good team than I do at home playing the Royals. I don't know why.

9:05 start time

My pick to click is Juanny.
James is going with Paulie.

BTW, I'm gonna stay away from the Cell until they get bad again. Call it my irrational fear of jinxes, call it the really big hole in now have in my wallet , call it whatever you like, but that 9th inning was painful. Luckily I was planted in the bullpen bar by that time and my liquid morphine had started kicking in.

I think the Sox play this season has increased liquor sales...at least around the park

9/11/2006 10:59 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

Oh, I'm fairly certain increased liquor sales extend way outside the Birdgeport nieghborhood when the Sox play. The team is like a walking Ritalin bottle.

That catch by Paulie was more difficult than it first looked.

good defensive move here by ozzie bringing in BA

9/11/2006 11:10 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

We gotta get Hawk or someone else to come up with some new nicknames for guys like Brian Anderson, cuz while it's easy to type BA, it's a lazy way of doing it.

So who else needs a nickname?

9/11/2006 11:13 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

Personally, I like Blondie for BA.

Checking out that replay of AJ's hit, it dawned on my that he is a dead low ball hitter (as a lot of lefties are). But he seems to be hitting balls off the dirt lately.

Yeah, got the trip off to a good start, good starting pitching, I'm pretty sure Bobby'll be fine, he just needed a confidence boost and he got it tonight.

3.0 behind the Tiggers.

Tomorrow will be the tell-tale game. Santana is like 9-2 at home, and Buehrle is gonna have to be on his A-game, although I wouldn't mind seeing McCarthy getting the start.

We seem to have the Angels number lately.

9/11/2006 11:40 PM
Blogger DickdaStick said...

Cook up a good dose of the "right mojo-medicine" for Buehrle will ya, James....he needs another confidence game too

Again, Sox can never win a game with ease. They must induce heart pains first.

alright, dickie, I'll go back and see what I wrote and if there's any "strange brew" of words that I can use to repeat the good mark buehrle performance
