What Do You Do For An Encore? Game 142 Preview

Jon "Cy Young Hopeful" Garland (R, 16-4, 4.37) for the Heros
vs.
Fausto Carmona (R, 1-8, 5.76) for the Politically Incorrect Monikers of Cleveland
--------------------------------------------------------------------
So if ever there was a chance to start a streak, today's the day. The White Sox Ace is on the mound, and a lousy converted closer is on the mound from the bad guys. I had a joke about Fausto and selling his soul to the baseball devils, but it really really sucked, so I skipped it.

One more note: No Hawk Harrelson tonight. Black Jack McDowell will be filling in. I wonder how much dead air will be floating across WGN tonight.

My Pick to Click today...Joe Crede, the healthy one!

Jeeves is having his own problems with Blogger so he emailed me and asked post Gooch as his PtC. He originally wanted BA, but before I could post it, Fornelli bogarted it.

2 friggin' penalties took ND out of TD territory and they've had to settle for 2 FGs.
This is an ugly game.

Well. My internet has been dead for a while, my power just went out last night, yay for moving into a new house.

So that's where I've been. Don't know how many games I'll be able to see at the moment, so won't be taking a recap for probably another week. Sigh.

I'll take Paulie. Please Jon, work some magic.

9/09/2006 7:17 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

look at it like this...root for OSU so UM can beat an undefeated team later on this season...of course, UM will have one loss at that time, but it won't be in conference...ND will hurt UM next week

9/09/2006 7:18 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

Yes, that would be good for ND, then you could pull those crazy comparisons between teams that didn't play eachother...ND beat Michigan, who beat OSU, so ND is better than OSU, OSU beat Texas, so ND is also better than Texas.

Doesn't matter either, there was a lot of static and feedback on WGN for some reason on my TV, so mlb.tv actually looks better than the TV for a change.)

This is a bit of a shocker...

A.J. Pierzynski's walk-off home run Friday night was the team's first of the season. The last was Scott Podsednik's game winner against the Astros in last year's World Series

9/09/2006 8:26 PM

Jeeves: I thought I replied to that earlier!

I had some issues with internet, and it won't reliably be solved until Wednesday, so I won't be able to do any recaps until then. Hopefully after that I'll pull some o' my weight, I've only been able to hear how the Sox've done lately by calling my cubs fan fiancee and asking her how they did.

That's...not too fun, trust me.

Especially when they drop two one-run games.

That's salt and lemon juice on paper cuts bad.

Maria Sharapova is HOT!

9/09/2006 8:39 PM

Nah, Kornikova isn't kinky. She tries to play coy, but she knows the minute the mystery is completely gone (a la posing for playboy or something, or a sex tape getting out) she's yesterday's news. So long as she's not naked, she can still carry an air of mystery about her that entices people.

Maria just kicks all sorts of ass, and anyone who ain't down with that doesn't know what's what.

And say hello to the 2006 White Sox Bullpen!

An extra insurance run would be nice.

which is worse, calling on Buehrle in the playoffs as a LOOGY or Cotts?

Well, if I had to date or marry one of them, I think Sharapova would be more down to earth and for lack of a better word, cooler.

Wow, this is shocking. Buehrle would be the ultimate LOOGY. His ERA vs. lefties is 0.00

Must be some error on the site. He's in fact given up 8 homers to lefties.

Maybe they all came after 2-out errors.

I wouldn't put it past him.

Ditto. ditto.

Juan seems to be mixing homers and strikeouts now.

Seems about normal.

I'm surprised Mac didn't get the heave-ho, that's the second player he just missed hitting.
Props to the Ump for realizing it wasn't intentional, though.

Someone send a Memo to Ozzie and tell him to quit pulling Garland out. This was almost the second win Oz would've cost him for pulling him on pitch count.

Yes, that was risky bringing in Thornton
