Adding Injury to Insult
Not only have the Sox been sucking up a storm (to put it lightly) but now we have a number of injured players.
Mr. MVP has been battling a bad back. He left Monday's game in the seventh with a "stiff back" and was held out of the lineup last night. Jermaine is day-to-day with what is now being called back spasms. I doubt we'll see him against the Red Sox in the finale, but I've been wrong before.
Buhrle has also been suffering from back problems. He felt sore before Monday's game and then again during a side-session. He was sent back to Chicago for precautionary measures. Herm Schneider said that it's just normal wear and tear, and that he checked out fine. Let's hope it's like Buehrle's broken foot...non-existent. Beuhrle will still start as expected on Thursday against Cleveland.
You would think Bobby Jenks would be suffering from a bad back. He is our stoutest player, but he actually has a sore hip. Jenks was sent to Chicago on Tuesday, as well. Neither Oz nor Schneider thought it was anything major. They just wanted to get him checked out so that his hip problems don't affect his delivery and cause him to hurt is arm. Ozzie is hoping to have Jenks back for tonight's game, but as of yet I haven't heard an update on his status.
It'll be seen if we have to add Contreras to this list. It's long been speculated, at least by the fans, that he's hurt.

Jose looks fine to me tonight.
Contreras back has been hurting him, obviously. He's had trouble dropping down, and has been fucked up mechanically because of it.
I think today's start, however, shows us he's back to form, and his back's all right.
INdeed he did, which is a HUGE relief
