Game 152 Preview
Jeremy Bonderman 12-8, 4.14 for the Motor City Kitties
vs.
Jon Garland 17-5, 4.30 for the ChiSox
This is do or die take 2 for the Sox. They need to win, and pray the Twinkies lose.
It's a good thing that the Sox have Garland on the hill, because of their tendency to put up a stinker offensively after having a good game.
Today will tell us if yesterday was a big tease or a sign of things to come.
I'm taking Mr. Anderson as my pick to click
DT is going with Mr. MVP, Jermaine Dye
Dick is taking Joe Clutch
James is hoping twice will be just as nice and is sticking with Gooch.

Konerko's the only one who didn't homer last night, so he's due.
Hey Jeeves, Ryan Sweeney is starting in CF tonight.
Curse you Ozzie. Well, I s'pose I'll stick with the other rook.
Pods with a double, alrite!
Let's bring him in.
Pods with a lead DOUBLE! Go figure.
haha...he doesn't have the opportunity all that much these days.
Thome was just a hair early. Nuts.
Jeeves, you sound like Hawk. Maybe you need a little of that California sunshine.
microcosm of our season, right there.
Crap...I sound senile? I guess all this stress from the Sox has caused me to age 50 years, suddenly.
Jon can pitch through it; it may end up helping us out in the long run.
Nice AB by Paulie.
sssssssspppppppppllllllllbbbbbbbbb...another GIDP, talk about a microcosm of our season
I think I've grown immune to the frustrations of DP's
haha, I'm still waiting for a DP where we get runners out at home and third, or somethign weird like that.
or the second guy getting out for slapping the ball
back-to-back doubles drive me insane.
Big K of Pudge there.
phew, another big strikeout
Are we looking at bupkus after a good offensive night? Sure as hell looks like it so far.
yep jeeves, bupkus it is
If we lose 0-2, I'm going to cry.
our 3-4-5 hitters go down meekly. Is it just me or did we have more consistency when it coems to run scoring when we had Thome in the 3 hole.
Mr .265 average is making Jon look like the pre-all-star break version of himself.
That may come back to the tight strike zone
sign of the apocolypse
Sox have half a game to show some life.
Speak of the devil...another DP
as charmed a life as Joe had in the first half is as cursed a time he is having right now
yep, he's scuffling. I guess it's a very small silver lining, but maybe it'll drive down in value.
I doubt it Jeeves
Scott Boras = wounded, cornered animal
Yah, I forgot about Boras (don't know how). Why can't we be on good terms with him?
It amazes me that Uribe is threatening 20 homers, while simultaneously heading toward the mendoza line
there's my pick to click...cutting the lead in half!
back to back jacks, if you ignore Pods.
yes, i think i should just concede defeat in the PtC race, my PtC's are going the way of Joe Clutch's performances....south
pander: hopefully next year we won't have to ignore him, and he'll be gone altogether.
K! Well at least he's swinging now, so I can't complain completely
i like shameless self promotion, and if you think that comment is bad, you should check out my new blog...Fleece the Pig, Flog the Pony...how's that for shameless self promotion? ;-)
haha, the only way it could have been more shameless would be to include a link within the comment.
I'm only shameless, not redundant.
PS...there's a link in the sidebar of Chi-Sox blog.com.
Nice play by Gooch. I thought he needed to bare hand it to get him, but apparently not.
Time's running out for our boys
we still got the meat coming up and Todd Jones will never scare this team, not like Nathan
BA could have caught that.
In the clubhouses, do you think the Tiggers and Athletics helped Frank and Maggs celebrate the nails in the White Sox coffin?
I wouldn't put it past the Tiggers seeing as they're in our divison.
So Jeeves (in an effort to shift focus from the plight of the Sox), what's the major? And if you say journalism, I'm gonna cry.
haha...electrical engineering, although i did give heavy thought to film because that's something i love doing
And as I type, the Sox are caught with their pants down again.
EE? Wouldn't Champaign have been better?
Yes, Champaign is technically a better EE school, and I gave them heavy consideration. It really came down between UCLA, Michigan and U of I, but my mom wanted me to get out of the Midwest, and I kind of wanted to as well and I think outside of the Midwest, UCLA has a better overall reputation.
WHat the HELL? Juan is stepping away as the pitch comes to him, what the hell is that?
Yah, if I was rich, I would have gone for film, but it's so hard to make it in that type of business I just played it safe. Plus I got a scholarship/job with the Department of Defense for doing engineering.
Mags likes to hustle against us, only.
Fuckin' Maggs, again.
And your mom just didn't want you coming home on the weekends unannounced with 2 new friends for some home cooking!
Why do you say rich? Just cuz it takes money and luck moreso than skill to make it in that business? Or cuz the tuition was jacked up?
C'mon Gooch. Who cares if you clinch James the PtC title. Just hit a bomb, or something.
Department of Defense, so you and Pander are gonna be co-workers.
this is getting bad, the boday language for every Sox player is Skidsville (except for maybe the call ups)
he's done that a few times this year on the way up and in pitches cuz he gets overhyped to swing on 3-2
Neal needs to hold them so we can pull an LA Dodgers
so much for that idea
Cue Dandy Don..."Turn out the lights, the party's over."
Am i the only one who sees neal cotts as a mirror image of cliff polite? Chance after chance after change... gone.
I'd be so pissed if the offense comes back to score the 3 homers you were talking about, becuase oh no.. thats not enough now.
Ok, so now is a good time for those 4 straight homers.
Yes, Cotts is worrying me big time too, but I'll give him until next year before we DFA him.
Hey anonymous...are you the same anonymous that made a few successful PtCs?
no shit, if we lose by one run, neal cotts = new whipping boy
nothing like DP to symbolically end our season. FUCK
well, it was revealed that politte had shoulder troubles, whereas Cotts just losts his control
poor joe crede...clutchless
will you guys keep up this blog through the offseason/next season?
I'm rooting for Oakland in the playoffs.
Jeeves?
I definitely will...and anonymous, I'd love to see you make a name and comment here! Otherwise I dunno if you're the same person of if it's a diff anonymous person.
Jeeves is the owner, but I can say for certain that, if he's still running it, I'll be back next season here at Chi-Sox Blog. (I'm with-holding the obvious shameless plug here, guys!)
You can expect game recaps throughout the end of the season.
If we miss the playoffs, which at this point we probably will, I'm going to break down the Sox and analyze, and probably poke a lot of fun at them too.
There'll be some good stuff here and I'll probably write about the playoffs as well.
Oh good! I was worried I'd lose you to your own blog...for shameless plug see sidebar. Something about a pig and a pony?
No, I think most of my Sox stuff will be left for here, since this is more of a straight-line, game to game blog. (And outta loyalty, like I said in my comments, I'm just Colbert to your Stewart.)
A friend of mine has signed on to do a weekly post at F&F, so he may say a thing or two about the Sox, but unless it's a serious off-the-chart rant, I'll leave the Sox stuff to Chi-Sox Blog. (Unless of course I'm bored, and it's the dog-days of summer. I mean, how much bad press can one truly come up with about the Flubs?)
Feel free to talk about as much Sox as you want though. I appreciate the loyalty, I really do, but I don't want to restrict your writing.
Good Luck Jeeves with what should amount to the opening few sentences of the White Sox eulogy.
I'll take Southpaw as my PTC for Thursday. Why the hell not?
We've already got one furry creature with opposable thumbs on the roster (Mark Buehrle), we don't need another.
