West Coast Swing contin: Game 147 Preview

Jon "The Ace of the Staff" Garland 17-4, 4.28 for the Good Guys

vs.

Esteban "Our Former Ace" Loaiza 9-8, 4.95 for the Athletic Club from Oakland

We owe Esteban a lot. We signed him for a cheap salary and he gave us a Cy Young calibe season. THey once he started coming back to earth we were able to pick up a stud in Jose Contreras. He's done a lot for us, but we really shouldn't repay him with a win. The Sox did well in Anaheim, er Los Angeles, um yah, Anaheim and I think they will do well in Oaktown. The Sox pitching has been great as of late, and should continue to do so against the offensively challenged A's.

My pick to click is Jermain Dye, returning to his former stomping grounds.

Readers make those picks here!

(If I really wanted to make sure I won the Pick to Click race, I would disable comments, but that'd be too obvious)

I've gotta go to the airport after the game, so if anyone wants to do the recap tonight, please be my guest (and thank you) if not I'll get it done in the morning.

I'm gonna take Pods tonight (or whoever is in LF) and hope for a miracle.

I'll get the recap us unless someone else wants it. (Pander? Dickie?)

Lordy lord it's a miracle.

My Pick To Click is Anderson-- stretching singles to doubles to prove to ozzie he is a *speed* guy.

Twins losing 4-2 in the 6th.

Tigers winning 10-2 in the 7th.

So...not what I'd want, but with Johan pitching and the Tigers facing the haplass O's, about as good as could be expected.

I love starting Johan Santana on my fantasy team. I either win, or I win.

Jeez. 15-2 now. Don't try too hard, Baltimore.

On another note: I really like it when it rains during ESPN telecasts involving Boston and/or New York. Not only do I get to avoid dealing in any way, shape, or form the whole ESPN New England homerism showing its head (See: www.firejoemorgan.com for an example of ESPN analysts who fail to recognize baseball is played outside of the Eastern seaboard), but they also go for bonus coverage, which is a nice little way to see Jered Weaver pitching, or Barry Bonds pop out after trying to show up the umpire. Good stuff.

I'm on MLB.tv, so I have the Oakland announcers.

They were less than excited to watch Rob golf one out.

Good for him, he made a half-decent catch (although letting Frank tag up and run? Unforgivable) and then hits a homer.

More unforgiveable was the way Pods let him get the double in the first place. Frank slowed down just around 1st and if Pods would have attacked the ball, instead of letting it get to the ball, Frank never would have gotten into 2nd. At least Mack was going the other way when he caught it.

Yeah, true James. Man. Milton's bitching on the SAME DAMN PITCH that Thome was called out on. The ump's consisted, sit down and shut up Milton.

WTF WAS JERMAINE DOING?! GAHHHHHHHHH...

Siiiiiiigh. It's like our outfielders don't know what they're doing.

Rob scored one run for us via home run.

He cost us 2 by completely botching a catch.

Let's do the math people, is he helping us more than Brian would in CF?

Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

The Sox play has been so up and down lately. Thome is starting to look like Pods, JD is mentally tired, Ozzie continues this Mack is CF disaster.
And the team isn't taking very good swings.

9/15/2006 10:27 PM
Blogger DickdaStick said...

Give credit to Loaiza on the bad swings

Give all the Bad-credit on the cf to Ozzie - what da fug doesn't he understand about that ??? Mack is the worst looking cf I've ever seen !!

Wow, Uribe sorta looked like a gator running down the line, his legs were pumping more horizontally than in a forward-and-back motion. Heh. Back in striking range now...

Siiiigh. Thome has been getting a wide strike zone, I can't blame him for swinging at everything. Still wish he could have delivered.

I am in no way, shape or form a professional hitter or hitting coach but Thome has gotta adjust somehow. He's gotta cut that swing down.
