Game 134 Preview

Jose Contreras 11-6, 4.25 for the Good Guys

vs.

Runelvys Hernandez 4-8, 6.67 for the Royales with Cheese

Sox should win. Sox better win. If the Sox lose, I will go insane, 'nuff said.
The Sox need to sweep this series to reach my goal of 5-1 during this 6 game stretch.

My pick to click is AJ.

Let's see some good picks and some good banter in the comments section.

Welcome aboard to the 4 newest members of the ChiSox, Charlie Haegar, Boone Logan, Chris Stewart, and Ryan Sweeney. I'll post something about these guys along with my thoughts entering September after the game.

Don't forget Jerry Owens who was called up a week ago and promptly but on the DL so he'll be available for the playoffs.

I was turned into a Michigan football fan when I was young and impressionable. I had two uncles from there and didn't know a lick about the college game so I followed them by default...but now I'm a Bruin!

And I got to see Zbikowski in action at high school, he was a pretty damn good QB.

Blogger Jeeves said...

Grudz-alotta-vowels and Sweeney own us.

Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

Muck Fichigan!

UCLA Bruin?

And you went to school with Zbis?

9/01/2006 7:32 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

a walking Sweeney is a lot nicer than a hitting Sweeney

9/01/2006 7:34 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

Indeed UCLA Bruin, no matter what I do, it seems like ND is destined to be my rival.

Zibs went to the next school over, but I got to see him play a few times, including his last high school game when he had to leave after playing with a concussion

9/01/2006 7:35 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

If we bruised one of Sweeney's fingers, maybe he won't be able to do as much damage

Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

More than any other team on earth, more than the Detroit Pistons and Redwings, more than the Twinkies, more than the Packers, I hate with fire of a thousand suns the Michigan Wolverines.

9/01/2006 7:36 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

haha, I don't doubt that at all. It's one of the fiercest American rivalries

9/01/2006 7:39 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

But before you scorn me, keep in mind had my uncles been ND fans, I'd be a ND fan.

9/01/2006 7:39 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

my hate is based upon a not-so-friendly rivalry bewtween friends

my friends and I are split down the middle exactly when it comes to UM vs ND, so things would get violent during the games especially if alcohol (always) and dive drills (almost always) were involved

9/01/2006 7:41 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

as a little kid, I liked UCLA (really little tyke)

beer and ice dancing: not so much

of course I'd have to be drinking a lot of beer to try ice dancing, so maybe

9/01/2006 7:44 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

Yes, as will Mack in center

9/01/2006 7:45 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

that would be very painful, beer and ice dancing

9/01/2006 7:46 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

Of the five tools, Gathright has speed, and that's about it right now. So, no hits here Jose

Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

the Mack thing is a given

funny thing about Mack (as long as we're talking about athletes we've seen/known)...he is a tightly wound MFer

he's from one town over and I remember running into him once in awhile at the same watering holes, and he was a mean drunk

9/01/2006 7:48 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

MEAT at second. That's a pleasant surprise.
When was the last time we saw that?

9/01/2006 7:48 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

Did you say anything to him when you saw him?

9/01/2006 7:49 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

about 6-7 years ago, he happened to come into the bar I hangout at and I remember him getting all red-assed about something and he flew off the handle and I mean flew off...he's got that mean look to him where is scowl is enough to scare a lot of guys off messing with him...I just thought he was overdoing it a tad, but someone who really knows him said he's always like that

9/01/2006 7:51 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

I used to see him all the time back in the day, before he was a pro...played hoops against him at the parks around the area
matter of fact, I was a little torn when I heard about thew trade, cuz I thought he was a hothead

9/01/2006 7:53 PM

yeah, nice gundown by AJ, and I thought he took an extra second to get rid of the ball too, kind of a long release

I was hoping to keep a lid on my age, but oh well...I'm a student.

9/01/2006 7:57 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

no, but he would remember my face, cuz his circle of HS friends hung around the same places mine did and subsequently when we hit bar age the same thing happened...there was a very specific bar crawl/routine for us back in the day and everyone on the SW side did it

9/01/2006 7:59 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

the student part i figured, HS or college is the real question! :-P

9/01/2006 8:00 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

gotcha, it's a shame he wasn't a more likeable guy (at least when he was drinking), it's always fun to root for someone you know. I pull hard for Zib when he's not playing Michigan.

I would actually really like to see Sweeney in left tomorrow with BA in center.
I'm really curious to see what he could do for us up here.

ugh, the dreaded lead off walk

thank you Joey Gathright for not being able to swng a good bat

9/01/2006 8:22 PM

We need the offense today, but they're MIA

9/01/2006 8:24 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

If we had BA and Uribe in, we wouldn't be in such a shitty position.
BA makes the throw to third, and Uribe doesn't misplay the grounder to short. That's two outs right there.
