Game 132 Preview

Tim Corcoran 4-6, 4.16 for the D-Rays

vs.

Jon "Staff Ace" Garland 15-4, 4.47 for the ChiSox

The Sox won an ugly one last night. I'm expecting something a little prettier this time around with our ace on the hill.
Now that we've got one game under our belt, my goal for the Sox during this 6 game stretch against the dregs of the league (TB and then KC) is for them to go 5-1. I'd be overjoyed with 6-0, but 5-1 is acceptable to me.

My pick to click is The Emperor, Tadahito.
James is going with Mr. MVP, JD.
DickDaStick is going with BA.

Let's see those Picks to Click!

I think it's time to get serious with this JD for MVP stuff. The national media doesn't seem to know he exists, but JD has the 2nd best case in the AL right now behind Jeter. And, he's not all that far behind.

I don't think JD is even behind Jeter.

So Jeter's got 13 points on him in average...he's 20HR and 25RBI behind him. Not to mention JD is the one with all those game tying and winning HR's against Nathan, Paplebon and Co.

I agree. The thing that Jeter has going for him is that he's on the Yankees, and the national media are fixated on the Yanks and those other Sox.

Good to hear from you again Tx via chicago

tonights lineup

Pods
Gooch
JD
Thome
Paulie
AJ
Clutch
Uribe
BA

The opening day lineup is back in tact with JD staying in the 3 hole Thome and Paulie sliding down one spot each.

One would think that there wasn't really a need for the offense to get better, but it can improve. Specifically, if Pods and Gooch can start getting on base regularly, the offense will be even better. BA is starting to get on, now we need Pods to step up and Gooch to stop hitting GIDPs.

I wonder if he was a little off hitting in the 5 hole. It shouldn't affect his hitting that much, but mentally...

wait a minute

...watching Comcast right now. Jim Thome re-tweaked his hammy on his hit in the 8th and will be out for tomorrow's game.

Report says it could be a problem for the rest of the season.

Ooh, that sucks about Thome. But he had a nice day today. Truly a wild game. Fun to be there, obviously, at the end. Thank god for a horrible defensive performance by the Rays! And, of course, for Gooch.

Going again tomorrow. Any way we can keep Young on the bench?
