Game 127 Preview

12:05 Start! (with a rain delay)
It's the perfect thing to wake up for.

Jon Garland 14-4, 4.73 for the Good Guys

vs.

Nate Robertson 11-9, 3.71 for the Bad Guys

The Sox go for the split today, and I'm glad to see the ace of our staff on the mound. Yes, this is an important game for us.

The good news is that Garland is 6-0 in afternoon starts.Nate R. is 3-3 with a 4.29 ERA in afternoon games. And he's 0-2 vs the Sox.
Roberston pitched well in August, although his 1-3 for the month wouldn't indicate it. He had a 2.96 ERA for the month. I'd like to see us budge that over 3.00.

Onto the picks...
I've got Joe Crede.
James took Uribe.
DickdaStick took Gooch.
Jonathon Kelley is abstaining from a pick today.
D.T. Kelly has around an hour to make a fresh pick, cuz DickdaStick already took GOoch.

Jeeves...I just noticed you took out the word verification. I gonna assume that's to allow for a more free-flowing commentary during the game?

Indeed James. Good catch!

I'm just praying I don't get junk posts again.

Smooth inning by Garland

It's early, and I hope I don't put the jinx on him, but it's nice to watch good pitching, ONCE IN A WHILE!

Jon is jamming the lefties nicely.

WOooo! BA with a beautiful diving play.

What d'ya reckon, a double or a triple if that was Mack?

Gload has been freed!

8/24/2006 1:32 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

Well, I didn't think BA had a chance on that. I was hoping he would just cut if off and hold him to a double...but it was Casey so It would been a double.

8/24/2006 1:33 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

Oops, I sort of ignored who the batter was in my zeal to rip Mack.

BA was really motoring around those bases.

Another RBI for Roblo Mackozuna. Yes, I'm going to start combining their stats to prove my point about who should be in LF.

JD's the man. He's been the most productive RF in baseball this year. Vlad is a distant 2nd and Ichiro is an even more distant 3rd.

I'm still waiting to hear JD mentioned in the MVP talks, nationally that is. People seem stuck on Big Papi and Jeter and Manny. John Kruk (who is an idiot) so I don't put much stock in this, but still thought I'd mention it, beleives he's a viable candidate but doesn't think he'll finish in the top 5 for voting.

I'm "watching" the game on mlb.com's gameday from work. Can someone clear up what this means:

Sean Casey grounds out, third baseman Joe Crede to left fielder Pablo Ozuna to first baseman Ross Gload.

Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

God must have decided that this Detroit thing has gone on long enough. Any city that has a Devil's Night shouldn't be so lucky.

And I wish I was a fly on the wall in the Tiggers clubhouse to hear all the shit Casey's gonna take after that.

8/24/2006 2:19 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

haha...yah that must be ridiculous looking to you.

Casey lined one to Crede. Crede leapt up for it, but couldn't quite make the catch. Casey thought he was out so he stopped running. Pablo meanwhile sprints to get the ball. Casey then sees that the ball wasn't out so starts motoring it down the first base line. Pablo throws a bullet to Gload and gets Casey by a hair. Casey was then booed off the field.

8/24/2006 2:20 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

Casey hit a hard line drive that just tipped joe's glove and carried into LF

Casey thought Joe caught it, and basically stopped running and Pablo hustled in and threw out a finally running Casey by a hair at first

Gonna be a tough call on the PotG. Do you go with...

a shutout against your main rival

A two homer day

a sparkling defensive catch and a triple

a heads up defensive play and good day at the plate

Which will it be?

So much pressure. Too many good performances

Is it too late to take Garland? ;)

Honest mistake. It's happens

And yes you can have Garland, but only because pitchers don't count at picks to click. ;)
