Game 123 Preview
Javy "Five & Dive" Vazquez (R, 11-7, 5.13) for the White Sox
vs.
Johan Santana (L, 14-5, 3.10) for the Land O' Lakes Twinkie-dinks
Sigh.
Can we have a matchup more ill-suited for a White Sox victory? Probably not.
Some quick Twinkie numbers: Twinkies at home -- 43-20 (MLB best); Santana at home -- 8-0, 2.48; Santana's last 5 vs. the Sox @ Metrodome -- 5-0, 0.73
Some quick Sox numbers: Javy vs. Twinkies 2006 -- 0-2, 9.26 (highest vs any AL team); Javy's 5th, 6th and 7th inning ERAs respectively -- 8.59, 10.42, 16.88
Channelling my inner Han Solo: "I have a bad feeling about this."
Pick-to-Clicks already in...
Red-hot Fornelli....Ozuna...he's only the Sox best hitter vs. Johan
Mr. Kelley...JD...
James...Gooch...sorry pander, but I gotta hunch
Readers, readers, readers, post a Pick-to-Click; win a chicken dinner with Jeeves. Okay, not really.

I know, don't be such a pessimist.
Fine, here's my hope...Santana has been having some blister issues. I just hope the Sox can blister his ass before he blisters theirs.
I have to pick Crede too, he's due.
d.t. kelly...nice to have you aboard!
God, I hope this doesn't sound like I'm a comment nazi but I gotta ask a favor...if someone has already been picked, please choose someone else until all the guys in the line up are picked.
On the sidebar we're keeping track, so I'll gladly add you to the list, but to twist a phrase I read on Fornelli's Foul Balls blog (which can be linked to from the siderbar), we're trying maintain some Pick-to-Click integrity .
Good luck!
Back in the fold, folks. Like I said below, great work James!
Dibs on tonight's recap! I'm going to have to give you a day off today James. I don't know if you've hit the wall where you can't stand to write a recap (I get thos feelings occasionally after a tough loss, but sometimes for no reason at all), but I don't want to burn you out.
Don't sweat having long recaps. They've been interesting, so there's nothing wrong with that. That's something I've always had trouble with, making sure not to talk about everything that was on my mind.
I think I may have to elevate my writing style now, to match what y'all have been doing.
My pick to click is Thome. Let's see if he can match his two-run blast from our only win against Santana.
After today's game, we'll have to have a talk about how we're gonna do recaps in the future and Picks to Click. I'll post something and then we can comment off of it. So don't respond to that stuff here.
Jeeves! Glad to see you back in the contiguous 48! Smuggle any fish 'n chips back to the mainland?
I didn't mind doing the recaps, even with hangovers, I just felt I might be overdoing it a little.
Looking forward to reading your ideas later.
Go Sox!
damn straigh wiz.
He's due for a loss, why not today?
It may be because I'm jetlagged and had to wake up at 4 am today, but I have full confidence that the Sox will win today.
I wanna bring up Ozzie's tirade yesterday. With some chemistry crumbling, Ozzie stepped up and very subtly moved the focus off the mini-squabbles and onto, of all things, how bad the NL Central plays baseball.
Contrived, maybe; wise, yes!
I asked in a recap the other day that he open his mouth to distract media, and much to my pleasure, he did. He's attempting a ruse in the guise of ground work for an us-against-them mentality -- a chemistry issue -- to take the heat off the players and put it squarely on his shoulders. And Ozzie is masterful at this tactic.
I doubt he minds speaking his mind either.
But kudos to Ozzie too for saying something about Freddy's insensitive remarks about the batters.
Gooch! MY pick to click!
If we get Toronto Javy, that's all we really need.
big IF, though
but, he's clean shaven today, so maybe we're onto something good her.
Way to make me look dumb Javy
Way to make everyone look dumb, Javy.
He couldn't pitch over the error again.
And he was getting hit hard too.
But Santana is hitable today.
James, sorry for the screw up. I'll make sure to pick someone else nect time.
quite alright d.t.
Just want to say welcome aboard!
(I was MIA for awhile, I was in England for a week)
