Fresh Off A Day Off, Game 131 Preview

Casey Fossum 6-5, 4.91 for the D-Rays

vs.

Freddy "Gimme Some Damn Runs" Garcia 12-8, 4.99

This isn't a game against a good team, so let's see if Freddy brings it or not.
Sox really need to take care of business here. We can't afford to lose this series. I'm hoping for a sweep, but I'm not going to predict one until after this game.

My pick to click is Jermaine Dye.

Let's see those picks!

I still don't feel comfortable making a "pick to click" due to my jinxing issues but I am starting to feel very good about the offense - averaging 6.8 runs over the past 5 games, in which we went 3-2.

Given the direness of our situation, I think a sweep is pretty damn important. But of primary import right now is winning this game.

Okay, time to cinch it up & hunker down, boys!

Alrite, welcome aboard saltwater!

I do like our chances for a sweep, on paper, but I hate our knack for playing down the bad teams.

Are we in agreement about what Pander suggested?

Oh yah, Saltwater...

what we've started doing is just chatting on while watching the game via comments (look at the last game's preview for an example) and it would be awesome to have you join in the discussions.

Good afternoon, gents!

Isn't it great to come together after a day away for some fresh and exciting White Sox banter! Despite the lousy weather outside (Chicago is a little wet, a little nipply), what a wondeful time to be in the thick of a penant/WC race.

And if the Sox do anything less than sweep the Tampa Satan-Fish, I'm gonna join Satan for a little talk.

But seriously boys --- okay, I have nothing. I need a life. I was "relieved" there was no game yesterday, so I wouldn't have to walk on eggshells/sit on pins and needles/wait for the other shoe to drop/etc etc etc. My fall softball leagues start next week, and I'n not sure how to handle my addiction that is the White Sox. I'm not sure if I should tape all the games, get home after a short (2-4 beers) stop at the bar and disect the minutia buzzed. Or should I skip the bar all together, give the liver a sabbatical and watch the games level-headed like normal fan.

I need suggestions, Sox fans.

Oh, and my PtC is gonna be...Jim Thome if he's back. If not, I'm going with the Gloadster.

8/29/2006 4:37 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

Oops!!!! And I read that too.

Unfortunately Thome isn't in the line-up tonight, so Pander's idea get's baptism by fire.

Since Paulie is the DH, saltwater farmer get him, right?

I'll take Gload then.

Hawk sounds just a tad resigned to the fact the D-Rays are gonna take some bases on Freddy tonight.

DJ is so right!

I hate it when I make the last out two innings in a row in softball. We have a rule that whoever makes the last out of an inning has to contribute $1 to the tab and the last out of the game has to contribute $5.

Motivational hitting at it's best

8/29/2006 8:08 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

haha, that's a great idea!

8/29/2006 8:09 PM

that was a nice pick-off attempt

8/29/2006 8:13 PM
Blogger jamesmnordbergjr said...

Crawford was out on that pick off.
JD was heads-up getting the ball in quickly even though Hawk is right.

Guess Freddy decided this game isn't BIG anymore with a 7-0 lead.

Sheesh.

8/29/2006 8:15 PM
Blogger Jeeves said...

maybe not...I was surprised that Crawford didn't go, maybe the field is a bit sloppy.

I could go for either, but at this point I think I'd take the good pitching over more runs. I'd be very happy to win 7-2

8/29/2006 8:39 PM

jeeves, I agree, this game is dragging, but I also think that's cuz it was 7-0 early and kinda took a little steam outta the game

Can someone tell Windmill Cora that he can (and should) hold runners at third? There is a fine line between being aggressive and being stupid. Waving three-wheel Paulie errs on the stupid side.

But I'm glad they won.. wasn't too fun listening to them blow the lead, though. Bastards.

C'mon, give me one decent (read: easy) victory. ( I missed the Buerhle game)....
