Get Your Foot Out of Your Mouth Ozzie
So it's about time that I commented on Ozzie's usage of the word "fag" in reference to Jay Mariotti. I honestly wouldn't have a problem with Oz saying that behind closed doors or to his players, but he needs to excersize a little more caution when speaking with the media. We live in such a PC society; Ozzie has to realize this is just going to cause problems. Unless of course, this is what Ozzie wanted. Perhaps he was trying to either draw more attention to the White Sox.
I fully agree that Mariotti is a hack, but Oz can't be so blunt with the media.
With regards to his punishment, I think it's a bit of a joke. What the hell is sensitivity training?

Ozzie says he's not going to the training. I think it's a dumb punishment, as well. But the White Sox need to do more than trot Scott Reifort out for damage control. The fact that Oz won't come to terms with WHY what he said was offensive, hurtful, and just plain fucked up is the worst part of this.
The fact that he associates "fag" with "not man enough" is itself very telling. It's like -- he doesn't dislike ALL gay men, just the really effeminate ones. Then again, gays do that all the time with each other; we internalize our oppression. That's probably where Oz picked it up, from his many, many gay friends.
