Update on The Count
On Friday, Contreras did some light throwing and walked off the field with a big smile on his face. The Count seems to be in much better shape now. He received an epidural shot on Friday and it looks to have worked immediately.
Jose is scheduled to start on Saturday against the Cubs. This means he gets pushed back one day, but that's just to ensure that McCarthy has proper rest, just incase he needs to start.
Against the Cubs we'll be throwing out Contreras, Vazquez, and Buehrle, which puts us in a good position for a sweep.
"He's looking good," Sox trainer Herm Schneider said. "He really doesn't have any pain right now. He's had a lot of medication, stuff that if you had this problem, you wouldn't have had what we gave him. You have to be special to get what he did. The ordinary guy wouldn't get the same treatment."The special treatment he received is a little worrisome. It would have been nice if he recovered with just normal medication; we don't want him to become dependent on epidural and need a shot every week so the pain doesn't flare up.
