The "Penultimate" Game of the 2006 Season: Game 161 Preview
{Editor's Note: Realizing Jeeves is two timezones away, he might not be awake in time to post the preview due to some quality time at the Whiskey A-Go-Go, especially considering the game starts at 11:10 AM CST or 9:10 AM PST. And we all know those left-coasters don't rise before noon on the weekends!}
----------------------------------------------------------------
Jon Garland (R, 17-7, 4.61) for the Chitown Spoilers
vs
Matt Garza (R, 3-5, 5.32) for the Hostess Twinkies
----------------------------------------------------------------
Spoiler it is. Can Jon improve upon his last outing? It would be kinda hard not to, considering he gave up 12 runs (8 earned) in 5.1 innings.
I hear Twinkies fans have latched onto the "Piranhas" label Ozzie gave some of their players and turned it into a t-shirt. They even have a website, although it looks nothing like the one on Ebay (the pic to the left). I hope Ozzie gets a cut for his testimonial.
Since I'm not a quitter, I'll submit a Pick to Click even though I'm The Grand Pick Master (Jeeves' words, not mine!)...I'm gonna take Jim Thome today (or whomever the DH is).
There's still a battle for 2nd place in the race, so drop the Picks or any other comment on this 2006 season in the comments.

Would the Twins jepordize anyone's playoff playing status for a small measure of payback? Especially if the game is as meaningful as they say it is.
Personally, I don't think the game is really that big. The Twinkies are in the playoffs whether they win or not, the AL gets HFA in the World Series, and why get someone hurt or, worse yet, suspended cuz of the antics of one guy that they, of all teams, should know is a knucklehead.
That being said, I'd love to see it, cuz it might just send AJ over the edge.
I love this lineup! Ross friggin Gload, Mack, Sweeney, Fields! This is awesome!
Notre Dame is looking worse by the minute i.e. the Illini are beating Michigan State!
Not bad for the "penultimate" game of the season. The younger guys played hard and Jon looked really good despite the 8th inning 3-run homerun. (Mind you Absolut had an error.)
Are you guys ready for the season to end?
I'm feeling, well, sad about the whole thing including writing on the blog.
The offseason is gonna be a long one.
A very long one, but we won't go quietly. I have some plans for once the season finally closes.
And you were absolutey right James, I slept completely through this game. I'm still getting used to this whole pacific time zone thingy.
